BUILDING EQUITY THROUGH ALLIES AND LEADERSHIP
Darren Thomas is from the Seneca Nation and a member of the Bear Clan. Darren is a doctoral candidate and a full-time lecturer in the Indigenous Studies program at Wilfrid Laurier University. His research focuses on First Nations community development through Indigenous rights and resource governance. Darren specializes in designing and implementing programs and initiatives that inspire Indigenous youth to be proud of their heritage and take a powerful place in modern society.
Jean Samuel has worked in the area of Diversity for over 20 years. She currently works at The Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton as the Supervisor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion where she assists in furthering the awareness of the impacts of oppression. Jean also works with leaders to assist in the development of strategic goals and initiatives, as well as policies and procedures to remove barriers to create an inclusive organization.
